How about a map?

One of the things I've loved about this forum is how international it is. I'm always curious about where people are from and which countries have the most members. Is that weird?

The map idea is good, but might be difficult to implement, depending on the formatting in the user database. A matrix of countries and number of members is probably much easier...
I like the international aspect of the site too and agree that it would be interesting to get some statistics.

Super weird.
I am not sure if posters are able to start threads with polls, but if they are, we could keep a running tally there. We would probably have to do it by continent or region, though, as there would be too many countries/poll choices to have to list.

I would love to see a map of the world that shows where everyone is from and of course it would be great if we had the map, with the ability to drill down into countries and see counties or districts where people were located. Hopefully, on Friday two members of this forum iNoyni and myself are meeting up for a coffee when I visit Glasgow. Might even get the opportunity of a photo.

This is fun and fabulous! I hope you'll at least get some photos of yourselves meeting up.
I love this forum!
Cool, Tony. The first Nikon Forums meet up. I don't think anyone in the US is close enough to one another to do this yet.
I think Sportz2pix and another member (can't remember who at the moment) are both in Virginia and have chatted about meeting up.
So awesome. I feel like such a hippie, but I love seeing connections being made. Just heading off singing "I'd like to teach the world to sing . . ."

Wish I could be there too! Try and get an innocent bystander to snap a photo of all four of you together.
We need photographic evidence of this meeting.
Last I heard there is only two of us meeting up in Glasgow, but hope that at the major Photographic Show of the year in UK (NEC Birmingham - March) may find more of us getting together. Many years ago my main hobby was sailing and I was working overseas, however, we would try and meet in a particular bar at the London Boat Show and it was always a hoot when one of us came down the stairs to cries of "hello" from those already there. Think the photographic crowd, particularly the Nikon Forum section, are a more subdued bunch of individuals - or maybe not!

You can create an online map in Google Map Maker where individuals could go on and add the place that they live. The only drawback is that you have to have a Google account to add your place.

Make sure that innocent bystander doesn't run off with someone's Nikon!

Let's see...for the US folks, I know K9 is in New England and several are in Florida...AfterImage is in Pennsylvania...I think I remember someone from Maryland too...some further west all the way to the left coast and I believe there are 3-4 in Virginia (including me)...So, we've got the most and we're about in the middle (north / south anyway)...everyone meet in Virginia

I know that on my own website I can drill down to see how many people have used my site by countries...come on all you USA users...only 1%...Ok, it's not ideal as i think it only shown where the network is (I think, i'm sure I could be proved wrong)
I'm sure Tony and I will get a few snaps taken when we catch up for a cuppa and a chat. Nicole I'll try and get my singing voice ready and do a rendition of "I'd like to teach the world to Sing"....

In that case, you should probably get some video too!
