I thought I would fall out of my chair… I received an email from "picture correct.com about Scott Kelby has made the switch to Canon cameras.  Here's the link...

I am shocked, to say the least.

I find the statement that he switched for high ISO response ridiculous.  Nikon sensors are fully a 1/3 stop faster than Canon.  Full frame to full frame anyway.

I saw the video the other day after Kelby posted it and was a bit surprised. I tried a Canon 5d Mark ii once and it just felt...wrong. But more power to him, I suppose. He's a great photographer and teacher regardless of which equipment he uses.

I like Don Giannatti's philosophy--saw on Facebook the other day that he shoots with both Nikon and Canon, not a fanboy of either and will probably be adding the new Fuji to his lineup.

Guys like this don't change for the abilities of a camera, they change for $ in the wallet.

I feel Nikon make the best digital bodies, but I strongly feel that Pentax is responsible for some of the best lenses ever made. If they had full frame bodies, I don't think I'd have a Nikon right now. I used Canon prior to Pentax, and quite frankly, nothing urges me to go back.

I really hate to see people make such a big deal out of something like this. So, he switched to Canon. I don't know the specifics of course, but I suspect that money or availability of certain items may have played a roll. So what?

Canon makes good cameras. So does Nikon, Pentax, Sony and others. But the most important piece of equipment you can have is between your ears. Most of the iconic images in photography were made with equipment that is far less capable than the most inexpensive cameras made by any of the companies mentioned above. Develop a good photographic eye and you can make the most mundane gear look impressive.

Big time!  The professional association I belongs to has a "Canon Ambassador Program" which sell their stuff directly at a discounted price.  Have to admit Canon is way ahead of all other camera companies as far as promotion is concern.

Well he switched to Canon because of the "High ISO performance of 1Dx" and so called the "agronomic" (which is the back wheel) ... for him that wheel makes his sliding the images more easier then Nikon bodies .... and i have to agree with Warrick said above .... sponsorship does makes a difference in the end of the day ....

I enjoy reading Kelby's books and they have been very informative.  It's his ability and eye we honor not his preferred choice in cameras.  Would he be as good using a instamatic, I think so.
