I have heard of problems with the dioptre adjustment not working on the Nikon D600/D610 and wondered just how common this is, and if Nikon are doing anything about it. The problem is that when attempting to adjust the dioptre, nothing happens and the view is 'out of focus' throughout the rotation of the adjusting wheel.

I have just had to return a brand new D610 with this problem, having given up various attempts to achieve eyesight correction. :(

With the camera on autofocus a perfectly sharp image is created, so no problem with the camera's focussing.

I am hoping that a replacement camera will not have the same fault.

Meanwhile, I would be interested to hear from others with a similar experience - and what the outcome was.

I haven't heard of that one Jayvee. I don't have a 600 or 610 however. Certainly would require fixing though!

Update:

I'm happy to report that the replacement D610 does not have the same defect, so all is well. Haven't had a chance to try the camera out yet, just so relieved to be able to see through the viewfinder!

Excellent customer service from Amazon by the way!

When the problem with the viewfinder became apparent on the first camera, I 'Googled' and found, to my surprise, that this is not such an uncommon fault. There was a lot of 'stuff' about it on various forums - with the problem affecting both the D600 and D610. Enough reports to make me wonder what, if anything, Nikon are doing about it.

I have been a loyal Nikon user for many years, with three 35mm film SLR's, the D5000 DSLR (which I love) and now the D610. But this experience has somewhat dented my confidence in Nikon. Hopefully my D610 will restore my confidence - and I suppose it's fair to say, that other manufacturers have the occasional hiccup.
