I am.  I've used an FT2 in the past with some of the old pre-Ai lenses and now I own an FT3 which does offer the Ai mount.  It's odd using the Nikkormat with my AF-D lenses but the combo works perfectly.  I think the Nikkormats were excellent cameras for hobby shooters such as myself.  Truth be told, my FT3 with the Ai-upgraded 50/1.4 S-C I bought for it is dwarfed by my D600 and walk-about zoom.  And the FT3 combo weighs less too.  Great camera which also looks great.

I like all the Nikkormats.  I have several.  Maybe the FTn or the FT2 or the FT3 is my favorite?

I bought my first Nikkormat to go with my Nikon F. The F, with the mtor drive and the battery pack was quite heavy so the much lighter Nikkormat made a  great second body. And the Nikkormat with a built in light meter cost less than a prism light meter for the F. I still have two or three Nikkormats and lots of lenses that work with them.

The first Nikon camera I've owned (any only so far) is a Nikkormat FT2.

I'm the proud owner of a Nikomat (yes) and I'm proud of the prwcision of the lightmeter. It's so precise! I love rhe cam. Got it from a close friend in Hong Kong. 2a88e7240d226db786c7fc938278aee7.jpg

I have two Nikkormats. I have an EL and an FTn. I prefer the EL because the batteries are readily available (PX28). Finding the battery compartment took a while though.

It also offers aperture priority as well as manual with stepless metering similar to the FE. It came with the AR-1 which would normally cost me more than the camera did. Which was £15 for the body. The FTn was about £30 with the Nikon 50mm f2 lens.253c35b364f3e336474378da840b51eb.jpga8128191dfbcabcc8b17a582fcbaa1ec.jpg

I have an old Nikkormat 35 mm camera and i need to get a new battery to test the light meter. The battery in the battery chamber was a Vinnic S 1560, i haven't been able to find these and was wondering if someone knew of an alternative battery that would work?

What version is your Nikkormat? Some of them need the 1.35V the mercury batteries produced, others can use 1.55V Silver-oxide cells in the 625 form factor. The Weincell mercury-free replacements work well in non-voltage regulated cameras and can be found here.

I have a Nikkormat FT2 and it is still one of my favorite film SLR's. I think its best feature is the shutter speed ring around the lens mount. True, the finder is a little on the dark side but it is still very useable, even with f/5.6 maximum aperture lenses.

I have a Nikkormat FTn.  It's a great companion to my Nikon Photomic FTn.

I have a Nikkormat FTn. It's a great companion to my Nikon Photomic FTn.

A little late to this but... I'm also late to Nikon collecting but in a short time I now have a F2A and a F2 Photomic. I recently added a Nikkormat FTN and a ELW. The ELWs meter responds to light but is way off, so the A and metered manual is useless. So I have an EL2 with an AW-1 winder coming any day now. The AW-1 is not functional but it sounds like the motor gear needs replacing, which I can get cheap enough. I've also added lenses...AIs 50/1.8, 55/3.5 micro, 35/2, 105/2.5, 43-86/3.5 and 80-200/4.5. In Non-AI I have 2 50/1.4s. I like the Nikkormat FTN very much. It's a black body in decent condition and I'm putting my first roll through it now. I mostly collect Pentax and Exakta. The FTN is comparable to a Spotmatic SP but the Nikkormat has mirror lockup and open aperture metering. One think I really like is how cheap really good AI/Non-AI Nikkor lenses are. Comparable Pentax lenses run 2-3 time more, probably because they are not as many out there. I guess I'm hooked on Nikon's now...I've been watching FM, FM2 and F3 auctions lately...
