Wow this course looks cool and I want to sign up. Can anyone sign up or do you have to be a professional?

Daniel, in case you're in a position to do something about this, it looks like Mr. Giannatti is starting another group in April.

I don't know where else to post this random bit of info…but I am quite thrilled at the moment. I just found out I did indeed make it into Don Giannatti's Project 52 Pros group, which means a lot of things:

  • For a whole year, I get weekly assignments, instruction, and feedback in commercial photography from Mr. Giannatti himself (he is a wonderful commercial photographer with years of experience and many published works--he's a good writer too)
  • I get free access to some of his lighting courses on Udemy.com
  • I have to (get to :) ) buy some of the gear I've had my eye on lately
  • I'll be forced to stretch my photography skills and creativity

I am most excited about getting critiques from him. And the stretching part.

(And I should probably clarify--"getting in" was a matter of being quick enough to snag one of the few available spaces--it wasn't an audition process.)

Ok you have completed your first month on the course, how are things going and what hot tips do you have for us all?

Actually, we only just started a couple of weeks ago, and I turned in my first assignment last night. Critiques are coming tomorrow night, and I'm dreading it because I thoroughly botched it.

I've been spending time listening to webinars and watching videos by Don Giannatti--he knows his stuff! I'm especially eager to learn from him about lighting.

He actually has a free lighting class similar to this project I'm doing, with weekly instruction (I think)  and assignments… It's called "Lighting Essentials" if anyone is interested. I need to check it out myself.

A few of you expressed some interest in participating in Project 52 Pros--Don Giannatti is opening his last group for the year (he says he isn't promising to do it again next year…but my bet is he can't stay away from it--he genuinely loves teaching and mentoring). The last one filled up within two days, so if you're thinking about it, don't think too long.

Here's a link:

I've been participating since February and have found it extremely helpful--I think I've grown and stretched in ways I hadn't anticipated.
