Nikon Cool Pix 900 - short battery life

I have a P900 and have been pleased with the overall performance, but the battery life seems limited - sometimes an outing of just a half hour and the battery goes dead - and with no warning at all. I use Nikon brand batteries, purchased a new battery in March- the Nikon EN-EL23 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery (3.8V, 1850mAh).
