I too have a Canon 7. But currently using the lens on my Z5.
Nice lens. Actually it’s a nice camera too!
I really shouldn’t have but it was only £109. That’s £109 brand new. Brand new and delivered to my door, in fact! There are people asking more than that for used ones.
It’s a 24mm, so that’s a 38mm in full frame terms. A slightly wide standard. And it’s tiny, you can hardly notice it on the camera. I’ll give it a try tomorrow morning.
I have a fun idea, John
In September, we have the challenge of ultra-wide angle as well.
Can you use your 24mm with your 7D canon vs my 35mm and my Nikon D3, and we kill two birds of one shot?
Dogbytes In theory, your canon 7D win the D3 in score, not joke

Let’s do it! Game on.
I can do some days with the D700 and Nikkor -O 35/2.
So we will be 2 against 1 and we can flank him

Nikon D700 vs Canon 7D Detailed Comparison
We’re running a course, at work, all this week, so I’m going to be busy but I’ll. do what I can.
Third and final lens for the Canon. It’s a very tidy, second hand, Canon EF 200mm f2.8 L ii
As the 7D is a crop sensor body, this lens will give me the full-frame equivalent of 320mm with a depth of field roughly equivalent to f4.5 although with near enough f2.8 light gathering ability. I used to have a 300/4 full frame lens and I liked the focal length and f4 at 300mm still gives quite spectacular subject isolation at moderate distances.
I’ve got the lens for dog photography really although a bit of wildlife will inevitably creep in too.
It’s a lot more compact than a 70-200/2.8 zoom, I’m pleased to say!
If I’m honest, I’d rather have had a 135 f2 which would have given me the equivalent of 216mm and f3.2 but they’re still a good £150 more than I paid for this one.
Hopefully give it a try out tomorrow morning.
Gave the 200/2.8 a try this morning. Unfortunately it was quite cloudy so the ISO speed was quite high especially towards the start of our walk. The 7D only goes up to ISO6400 but I was surprised that the files are still perfectly usable. The 200/2.8 seems quite prone to CA if you provoke it but okay in normal use. Not bad when you consider the design goes back to the 1990’s, I believe. Fast, accurate and very quiet focusing. Backgrounds dissolve to nothingness. All as a good Canon L-series lens should be.

I am part way over to the dark side, as you might have seen in the wide, wide open exercise. I am impressed with the Viltrox adapter that even gives autofocus with EF-mount lenses on my Z bodies. The 20/2.8 that is the only Canon lens in EF mount I still have is quirky, but the results are nice when I nail my pre-visualization.

I must admit to being very impressed by the Canon lenses.
