Yes, still in use of course the focal is useful is one of the off-road lens excellency.

For tourist if you can't carry a lot of equipment baggage, and you want angular photos it's one very reasonable solution. The other one, the 28-200mm. You can always buy more specific lenses but these lenses save your ass any time. Sometimes you don't have any info of what kind of photo session you will do, so these lenses aren't a bad choice. Off-road lens lenses always for safety and no blunder.

I have both old AF D series and no regrets at all are quite compact not heavy and the quality is reasonable, I used both with Nikon F100 time ago with my dad and later used with Nikon D3x and D4 and still worked fine. ^_^

Note :Yours is the G version, the upgraded and last version, the evolution of mine screwdriver.
I think today still one of the best for general propose. B)

This last version of the 24-120 is IMNSHO the best walk-around zoom in FX F-mount. It is not *the* best walk-around zoom, as there are competition in other mounts that are at least equal, if not better but on a f-mount body, there is nothing with even similar optical quality and versatility.

You just need to get out and shoot with your camera and lens and get to know its quirks and limits.

In July, I will run a single-lens mini challenge that I call Single in July. The idea is to use one single body and lens combination for at least most of the shooting for a month and to get out at least most days of the month. Last year I managed the month with only one non-shooting day. One thing to remember is that the mini-challenges are meant to challenge oneself, not to compete with others. The idea is to get better at using the kit one has *by* using it.

WOW ! The July mini-challenge seems great. :)

Now for my would be hard to choose one lens, I have a lot of candidates, but the most bizarre I can choose of my collection is :

Vivitar Series 1 Q-DOS 70-210mm F2.8-4.0 3D for Nikon
Vivitar Series 1 Q-DOS 70-210mm F2.8-4.0 Lens Reviews - Vivitar Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

In the other hand, my other idea another freak one, always wanted an apology to use it a bit more:

Jupiter-37A 135mm F3.5 adapted with russian kit to Nikon F mount from M42 original mount.
Jupiter-37A 135mm F3.5 Lens Reviews - Russian and Zenitar Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

The third in contention would be the Nikkor 43-86 mm F/3.5 I consider it a very fun lens and with an extra handicap for its use and I have two versions of that lens, it calls me a lot to use the most infamous of all the Auto.
