I have a nissin i40 flash gun that I use with my D5300. I've seen differing reports of its compatibility with my recently purchased Zfc. I've updated firmware to C1.3, as suggested by nissin website, but Flash does not work. Any suggestions either for a solution or a suitable flash?

Sorry for the late answer.
I don’t know anything about Nissin flashes, but my Godox Ving V860 III units work perfectly on the Zfc, both on-camera and off-camera using the XPRO transmitter.
I have some old SB-600, SB-800 and SB-910 units that work well as backups and when I need more light sources with an X1R-N receiver on the speedlight. My reason for going with the V860 and not the V1 is that the colour temp is very similar to the Nikon speedlights.
