Thank you for admitting me to the forum, a great resource for Nikon owners.

I use a Nikon Z9 and Apple iPhone 12 but find SnapBridge very frustrating when covering team sport events and would like to try the wired application NX MobileAir. Nikon only recommends connecting with an Anker 514 Lighting to USB-C cable, however this cable is either out of stock or out of production. Does anybody know whether an alternative data transfer cable can be used to connect to NX MobileAir?

It seems that there is no alternative. The Canon R3 users have the same problem.

I think the problem is that it is a pure data transfer cable without power delivery and the market is limited for such a specialized cable.

Thank you for that Nikonian, seems like I'll have to put up with Snapbridge and all its quirks!

Have you tried using an Apple USB C to Lightning cable?

Hi Ron, yes, tried this and also tried Anker’s 541 USB-C to Lightning cables without success.
The 514 cable is strictly for data transfer but appears to be out of production.

I guess I misunderstood your original question. I was under the impression that you could not find the Anker cable, and was trying to come up with an alternative. However, if you've tried the Nikon mandated cable and still can't get it to work then I guess something else is preventing a connection.

Just now, I went to Nikon's NX MobleAir page and looked at the specs. It looks like it would be a cool app, if it worked. However, I noticed that the cable that Nikon recommends for use with this app is listed as an Anker 2361 Apple Lightning to USB-C cable. And, a quick check of the Anker site shows this cable as being available for purchase. I did not see any reference to the Anker 541 cable at all.

Tried the Anker website just now but it's listed. Thanks for checking this out Ron.

To find an alternative cable, you can try searching for Lightning to USB-C cables from reputable brands such as Apple, Belkin, Anker (if available), or other well-known cable manufacturers. Look for cables preferably MFi that specifically mention data transfer capabilities and are compatible with iOS devices.

Hi - Did you have any luck find the Anker 514 or similar cable that works?  Everywhere I've searched the 514 is out of stock. :(
