Using a partitioned SD card in my Z50

My D850 has two memory slots and I use one for raw files and the other for jpegs. My Z50 only has one slot, but I still shoot raw/jpegs with it. The problem is having to untangle the file types when I download to my Mac. Does it sound feasible to partition the SD card and have one partition set for raw files and the other for jpegs? Seems like an obvious idea to me, but there is absolutely nothing on the internet that even remotely mentions it. Any thoughts or ideas?

I think if it were possible to partition an SD card, you'd have trouble telling the camera where to put the two file types.

I know nothing of Macs, but is it not possible to sort the files in order of type ? You could then just select the raw files & copy them to wherever.

From what I understand you can partition an SD card on Mac or Windows machines. But you're right, how would the camera know where to to put the two file types? But that's a software problem, although I admit it's highly unlikely any camera maker will ever try to remedy it. As for sorting files into types, yep, easily done on Macs and Windows. I suppose I'm just looking for  solution to a problem that doesn't really exist ! Still, it would be nice to have some options when you only have one memory slot.

Since it's the camera's OS that decides the file and partitioning scheme, you're pretty much stuck with that. And, I don't expect that to change anytime soon.

BTW... you probably already know this, but you should always format your memory cards in the camera you intend to use them in. Never use a computer to accomplish the task.

what he said. that why when getting new camera make sure has 2 aka two card slots for that issue. will never get camera with one card slot for that reason. also fact with way i shoot some softball games to post and share with people need extra card slot if one card has failure
