I have a 200-500mm and a 70-200mm that I use with my Z 7. I use an FTZ adapter. Both lenses work fine when the VR switch on the lens is turned on.

I just bought a Z 9 and tried these two lenses with the VR switch turned on and had horrible results. The AF is set to Single Point. When the VR switch is turned on, the VR stabilization mode immediately engages. When the shutter is depressed the focus point jumps to the left, and the result is a blurry shot.

The focus seems to work (no jumping focus point) when the lens VR is turned off. Does the VR on F lenses not work properly with the Z 9?

I'd hate to think that the VR on several thousands of dollars worth of my lenses can't be used with the Z 9.

What version is your 70-200? Which version of the FTZ?

Have you tried switching off IBIS? The two VR systems don't always work together with adapted lenses. On long glass, in-lens VR is more efficient, so switching off the in-camera VR gives better stabilisation if you have to turn one off.

I'm not familiar with the term IBIS. My 70-200 is the AF-S NIKKOR 1:2.8GII ED VR, and the other is AF-S 200-500 1:5.6 ED VR. The FTZ adapter is the first model that came out.

When either of these lenses are attached to the Z 9, and their VR switch is turned on, the VR option in the camera's "i" menus is automatically dimmed and can't be selected. VR can only be turned on at the lens.

I should mention that the Z 7 had no such problems with either lens' VR.

IBIS is in body image stabilization.

It might be worth trying to switch the sensor VR off before mounting the adapter and lens, just to make sure that it is off and not just automatically switched to single-axis stabilization.

Have you updated the firmware in the FTZ?

I attached a Z lens to the Z 9 then switched the VR off in the "i" menu. I then removed the lens and attached the 200-500. The "i" menu VR option will displayed either On or Off depending on the lens' VR switch setting.

The firmware of the FTZ is the latest.
