Hi folks,

I am a newbie using a Z9 and for budget reasons I am using my old Canon lenses with an adapter. It works, but I am very interested in start buying the Z lenses, but I do not know what would the essential lenses I should buy and in what order.

I need to have cameras suitable for Video and lenses for general pictures of birthday parties and eventually a wedding. would be nice to get a recommendation of a Z lens that could do video and stills and be suitable for all or most of those occasions. That again is for budget reasons.

I would love a recommendation for a prime S lens that would fit the same above, as well and a zoom lens I usually need for wedding occasions.

Thank you in advance for your help.

For events, I would start with the 24-70/2.8 and the 70-200/2.8.
If your style includes fly-on-the-wall type candids, especially with kids involved, a 24-70/4 would help as the f/2.8 is so noticeable.
The f/1.8 primes are all good enough for professional use, unless your style needs absurdly narrow DOF. Which ones you need, and in what order is a matter of your style as we all have different preferences.

After reading about Chris (fallout666)’s problems with the non-S zooms for events, I think the S lenses are well worth their price premium.
