Seems to be different offering for editing software from Nikon. Need some basic understanding of these. New to Nikon.

1. How do they differ?

2. Cost?

3. Are they worth having?

Note:  I do have DXO Elite and Affinity, are the Nikon software worth having, better or worse, redundant in my case, other?

As NX Studio is free, it's worth trying.

I use it as a 'first step ' before moving the resulting jpg to other editors if required.

Haven't come across Cliff Notes.

NX Studio is the only current editing software.
Capture NX-D can be found mirrored on some legal download sites. It is, however, abandonware.

If you like the results from shooting jpg but want the flexibility of shooting in raw, NX Studio does a better job than third-party raw-converters.

Affinity works really well with the older NEF formats from a D800 or a D810. It works acceptably well with the D850 files but I can’t get the result I want with Z6II or Z fc files.

My choice of raw converter is PhotoNinja. It lets me expose for a part of the scene and then tonemap the rest where I want it to go…

This scene had a nicely exposed sky but the buildings were close to black SOOC…

I would suggest NX studios. It has the option to view and enhance photos and videos shot with Nikon digital cameras. Its free and it offers a user-friendly way of performing these tasks on pictures after download.

LOL. I will keep in mind in the future that many here are not in the U.S. and avoid native slang and colloquialism.
