What is the best way to clean crud from an old 55mm lens, serial no. 972964? After cleaning the lens with air, microfiber cloths, lens tissue, and lens cleaning solution, a bit of crud remains. Your suggestions are appreciated. Many thanks.

Which 55 mm lens is it? From the serial number, I guess it is a late 1977 or maybe early 1978 Ai 55/3.5 Micronikkor.
Have you tried a Lenspen? Try to get the original (made by Parkside Optical) if you can find one.

I use ROR lens fluid on the glass w/ a microfiber cloth, and rubbing alcohol on the body.
