I have a d5000 and was looking for a landscape lens and was looking at a tokina 12-24mm f/4 at-x pro but believe this lens wont auto focus on a d5000? is that true? if it is, could i just set distance to affinity on the lens shooting landscape? would that work?

The first version doesn't have the focus motor in the lens needed on the D5x00 bodies for AF to work. The version II does.

You can shoot the first version as a manual lens but with exposure metering as it is chipped.
