A sight seldom seen these days... Heating in the downpipes usually takes care of things so the ice doesn't build up.

Super-Takumar 135/3.5 M42 on an adapter!!!
Looks great! Makes me wonder how my old Rokkors might work with a Z Nikon!

A custom that I wish would end... There are fewer and fewer feeding the mallards bread these days, but reaching all people is still far off. There are fewer birds with angel wings now than 20 years ago, so the campaign seems to be working. I sat down with the mother and child and explained why feeding wildlife bulk without nutritionional value is a bad idea when I got to them on the other side of the pond.
The happiness of a child feeding the mallards made for a good photo, though.

Good for you, Peter... I do wish people wouldn't feed bread to ducks. We have flocks of mostly Moscovies around here and, thankfully, some human angels who try to feed them properly. However, it's probably better to just leave them alone in most cases.
Unrelated question: What are those interesting looking trees in the middleground? They look otherworldly in your photograph.

Ron, I think they are European lime (Tilia x europaea) that are heavily pruned to get those interesting lumps. I will revisit later when they are green.
Here they are in a photo from mid-October last year. Show us where you live - Page 2 - Mini-Challenges, Member Contests, and Games - NikonForums.com The link should lead to post #30.
Today's photo will be in the Monochrome Mondays thread as well.

Another European lime, this one even heavier pruned to keep it small as the verge of the multi-use path where it grows is very narrow.

Reminds me of the first time I shot common table salt using a very similar rig. It was amazing, and I was pretty much hooked on macro after that.
