Hi Thanks for letting me join my names Mike live in Scotland.

Just switched back to the F90 and when I use the above lens

the lens is set at f22 however camera displays f32 and it has this mismatch for each f stop.

Puzzled as if I set aperture using ring will the camera metre for f32 so will under expose?

thanks

Mike

Welcome Mike.

I wonder, if you take a picture, is it underexposed?

Interestingly, I have a Sigma lens that will give me f36 yet as the highest number on the barrel is f32.

Exposure is ok though.

What’s your focal length when it does this?

The lens is one of the cheap variable speed lenses from the mid- to late 90-s. It is f/4 at 35 mm but only f/5.6 at 80 mm. This one stop slower at the tele end shows up at all apertures, at least on cameras from approximately the same vintage. On earlier cameras that don’t use the electronic reporting, the only setting you will se is the one for 35 mm.

BTW, this lens is one of the few underrated Nikon lenses.

One member who was very active some years ago really used it to its strengths.

I don’t have anything worth posting in my archives, but this thread by Alden really shows how nice it draws in the right light. I sold mine together with an F801s to a teenager who wanted to immerse himself in the film experience.
