[vegasD5300]

I have a Nikon D5300. When i turn it on, my rear screen shows the menu of what is selected on the rotary  mode select. I can press menu and it does not come up. this happens when the lens is locked. When i unlock the lens to adjust the zoom, the screen goes blank, in all focus modes AF or M on the lens. I still have normal zoom viewing on the manual lens but not the optical screen. The over head toggle lever does not toggle the screen to view what i would see through the lens. i have asked the Nikon factory help line but they have no answer. I tried a reboot using the menu and i button but that did not solve the problem. It happens with both my lenses. The camera takes good photos using the manual viewer. Would like access to the screen viewing. i downloaded all the current updates.
