Hi,

I was told some time ago that Nikon were working on a Z7 III. I am deliberately not buying the Z7 II as I believe that the III is in the pipeline somewhere.

Can anybody shed any light on this?

Thanks,

James

I think it will be a long time. I've read from Thom Hogan the only way is moving to a non-mechanical shutter sensor similar to Z9, but Nikon doesn't want to jeopardize Z9 sales. Nikon distant future upgrade to a Z9 II is the only time to release a Z6 III/7 III with non-mechanical shutter sensors. Sounds like a long way off.

The Z6III and Z7III have been rumoured for nearly a year now. So has the Z8. We will probably not see any announcement before the new year and nobody knows when deliveries will start after the announcement. My guess would be more processing power for the AF and possibly higher resolution sensors but still using the hybrid shutters this time around.

Remember that there have been long intervals between new models of prosumer bodies before... The D700 was in production for nearly 4 years before the D800 was released.

Thank you both for your answers. I think I will go ahead and get the Z7 II rather than wait around for something that might not happen for quite a while. Thanks. -- James
