Is it an MB80 Issue?

Read one time where it may be the grip. I can have 2 charged batteries, and with grip on D90 quickly says the battery is dead. Another/3rd party grip did not work.

 

I generally use my D500 now, but if I could resolve issue, would put the D90 up for sale, it is otherwise fine. Suggestions?
