I purchased these:

But am now wondering whether I should bother adding the extra weight around my neck since the P1000 is already a great binocular.
Can somebody please look at the specs of these binos and let me know if there are any situations, distance or otherwise where they would get me a better look at something (mostly interested in birds) than my P1000?

Does my P1000 reach farther than these binoculars?

I think the P1000 wins, but wade through this treaty to discover the answer:

Your camera has much more magnification, but it is easier to spot camouflaged wildlife with binoculars because of the stereoscopic view. Once you have spotted where it is, it is much easier to find again using the camera.

Yes. I'm pretty sure a 10x magnification bino is equivalent to a 500mm lens. My 10x Nikon binos have greater mag than my 70-300mm full frame lens. Your camera is a 3000mm equivalent full frame lens.

I believe the binoculars are 50x10 or 500mm vs. another set that is say 35x10 which would be 350mm...I'm old at that was quite awhile ago so I may be totally wrong
Actually the magnification determines the power so both are the same in your example. The objective lens size determines the brightness like an aperture.
