Have 'the little elf' this weekend - my grand daughter, so I'll put this up before it gets frantic in the household.

I am not sure if this is my best this week as I still have some 3000+ shots to go through from yesterday.

The longest focal length lens I once owned was a Sigma 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 DG OS HSM C that I bought in 2019. When I got it, it's purpose was to shoot wildlife using my D7500, which it did well. Over time, I found that I was using it less and less and relying more on my Nikon AF-P FX 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR lens for that task. I think it was because the Nikon was somewhat lighter. Meanwhile, I bought a lightly used D500 which I used with the 70-300mm almost exclusively so I sold the Sigma to an old friend.

This past Spring, I had a GAS attack and got interested in the Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 DI-II VC HLD lens. I eventually bought one. I did so with my eyes wide open regarding the possible limitations of a lens with such a wide focal length range. I've been very pleased with the results it produces, however.

This week, I took the opportunity to compare a point (circled in RED) in a scene using focal lengths at both ends of the range. Both images were processed with Nikon's NX Studio software.

Play date!  Daisy, the dog from across the road came over to play and she and Sunshine had a ball!  These, taken near the end when they started to settle down.  Daisy trying to catch her breath while Sunshine continues the play.
