I have been told different tales I have a D3000 can I use AF Lenses on it some said no some said yes but manual focus what is the position regarding this

You can use modern AF lenses with built-in motors, just not the older screwdrive ones (D lenses), as far as I'm aware.

For AF to work, you need AF-S lenses as the D3xxx series of bodies don’t have the built-in focus motor and screw drive for the older AF lenses. The light meter will, however work with any chipped lenses even if you have to focus manually. You can use the old manual focus lenses but you will have to guesstimate exposure.
