I'm usually the last person to post in this weekly thread. This week, however, started with a bang...literally. Yesterday was July 4th, Independence Day in the U.S. As such, there are always local fireworks displays put on by just about every city and town across the country. The small city in which I live is no exception. That said, I'd only tried to photograph fireworks once before, in 2020. On that occasion, I used a fixed lens Panasonic FZ1000 in manual mode, handheld but braced on a fence. The result was ok.

This time, I decided to be a bit more rigorous about my gear and technique. I shot off a tripod, again in manual mode, but this time using my Nikon Z50's Bulb feature and a ML-L7 wireless remote shutter release. Again, the results were ok. Oh, FWIW, I was shooting a fireworks display that was taking place a little over two miles away as the crow flies. Why? On site parking is a challenge at best and families with small children running around make a lousy environment for trying to keep a tripod upright. I figured, let the kids have their fun, I'll set up close to home, and let's see how it goes.

Not much exciting this week, doing gun work for myself for a change and some repairs on the house.  What we have here is a few pieces of scrap metal and a welder turned into some relaxing entertainment, a spinner for my pellet rifle.  Not much of a challenge really, but it is relaxing.
