I use my A1000 as a walkabout camera when I don't want to carry one of my DSLR cameras.

After I changed the SD card I started getting the 'image file no data' or something similar error message on a few photos.

When reviewing my photos I might get 5 without any problem and then the next one would have no data and the following few have no problem either so it's a head scratcher!!.

It would look fine while taking it on the LCD screen after I took it. It would appear that the image was saved without any problem. There is no warning of any problem after you take the photo. It's only when you reviewed the photos on the LCD screen you find out the problem with the image which will not open.

It's very annoying because all looks good on the LCD screen after I take the photo.

When I took it into my Mac I can see the photo in the SD folder but when I click on the image it will not open or give me an error 26 message. To rescue some I Preview the file and then take a screenshot of it but that's not an answer because the file is then only 1 or 2MB.

The SD card is the same as the previous one, I buy a few at a time so that isn't the problem. . When I tried to format the card I got a 'card not compatible' which is confusing. I formatted it in my Mac using Disk Utility, when I put it in the camera I took a number of photos and roughly 25% of them had the no data error.

In case the problem was with the SD card I put in another brand new unused one and it was the same old problem.

I updated the firmware from Ver 1 to Ver 4, formatted the card in Disk Utility. I took 10 photos and was pleasantly surprised that none of them had the "no data error" so fingers crossed that this had sorted the problem. For the next few weeks I'll also bring my old Canon SX270 HS in case the error crops up again. I love the A1000 because it's so small to put into a pocket, takes up no room.

I posted this in case anyone else runs into the same problem. I couldn't find any answers online that dealt with intermittent no data in image problem.

Hello Tom

The only comment I can offer is to only format the card in the camera, never on a PC or MAC. Otherwise the issues you mention are likely.

On the subject of cards, only buy them from a known 'good' source. There are far too many unreliable cheap ones about.
