One of my bucket list shots, getting a dog shaking water off.  I took a total of 18 frames, of which 3 were out of focus, and another 6 or so I just couldn't move the camera fast enough and got poor shots.  I'm going to use one of those poor shots just because it's kinda funny, the other 4 are good and in sequence.

Today, I thought I would try to illustrate how good the 14-24 is at finding stray light to produce flare.

The sun was still more than 5°from clearing the roof of the building camera right... This means that there was no direct sunlight even close to the scene. The light source is just blue sky straight behind my back. The reflections in the front element are still prominent.

Took some pictures this evening in Westgate, but they didn't pan out.

Instead, surprise visitor in the garden.

Today, I used my membership in the Linnean gardens to visit Linnaeus' botanical garden.

There used to be a Vivarium connected to the garden. These monkey huts were so the monkeys had somewhere to be on days that were warm enough for them to leave their cages.

For me, this challenge is over now, tomorrow it is August and Monochrome Monday…

I have achieved what I set out to do. I am much more confident using the kit lens and the Z fc than I was a month ago, and I have found some settings that has simplified how I use the camera. The My menu setting is vastly different compared to how I had it set at the start of the month.

I did miss one day, but after seeing my counselor in the morning, I simply couldn’t find any inspiration.

My keeper rate was not as high as last year, but using a zoom invites alternative takes to a much greater degree than a prime.

A very useful exercise - even if the subject lens gave up 1/2 way through.

You chaps have come up with some very fine pictures this month.

My parting shot is of my car parked in an empty car park this morning, because I arrived far too early, before the shop opened.

I think we have all come up with both well-composed elaborate photos as well as some well grabbed slices of time.

I hope we have all became better at using our gear and, through constant practice, better photographers.

See you both, and hopefully others as well in the Monochrome Mondays and Your best… challenges.

My final photos for the challenge.  When I stopped working for the day, (on my own guns for a change and shop cleanup so I can get to all the reloading I've put off) I looked up around sun-set and saw some dark clouds with a pink glow.

As with last year's challenge, (I used my Nikkor 20-35mm f2.8 AF IF D ED) I learned how to use my Nikkor 80-200 f2.8 AF IF D ED to a better level.  Early on I had some focus issues, those disapeared when I switched the camera to spot metering, and for some reason on today's photos it wouldn't focus at all on the clouds, (seemed confused) so I resorted to manual focus.
