I am looking for a little help with my Z6ii camera with an external intervalometer. Last summer I was able to use the Aodelan WTR-2 intervalometer for an astrophotography class I took and it worked perfectly. I just took it out again this week, and I cannot get it to activate the shutter on my camera. So far I have tried the following:

  • I replaced the batteries in the intervalometer with fresh batteries.
  • I updated the camera to the latest firmware (1.40).
  • I replaced the cable from the WTR-2 to the camera with a brand new cable.
  • I have tried all of the settings on the WTR-2 (using the timer and pressing the button manually).
  • I tried the Auto, P, and M modes on the camera.
  • I looked for a setting in the camera, but did not find any that looked right.

I am looking for any advice on how to get this to work. I would also be interested in what intervalometer others are using. I know the Z6ii has a built in intervalometer, but I do prefer the external one for astrophotography.

Thanks form the help.

Hi, just got my Z6ii and have an opposite issue...the menu item for the internal intervalometer is grayed out for some reason. Anyway, I use a Vello external intervalometer, and just tried it on the Z6. It seems to work fine if I use the BULB setting for the shutter speed on the camera and set the actual shutter speed on the Vello.
