Hello everyone, I'm an old Nikon shooter that left to dabble in the Sony playground. That didn't workout, so now I'm back with a brand new Z5 and I'm loving life again. I learned photography on a Pentax K1000 and black and white film. I don't do video and I don't create "content"...whatever that is. I enjoy shooting portraits of people doing what they do and I really love converting to black and white to emulate the old school films such as Tri-X, T-Max and Ilford HP5. The moody, contrasty black and whites have always been my favorites.

I'm recently retired after more thirty years of public service. I'm hoping to spend a lot more time chasing the perfect photograph. Something I've never been able to achieve.

Yes, welcome.  I'm sure you'll find some content here in the forums you can participate in comfortably.  I like many of the same things, but I'm kind of rural to say it mildly, but I do like converting to B&W.

Welcome to the forums!
The black and white I, personally, chase is the look I used in the late 90-s. HP-5 developed in Microphen and copied on medium hard Kentmere Warmtone FB and toned in Kodak’s selenium toner.

Welcome to the forums. I think you'll find us to be a pretty laid back bunch. Many of us have also shot way, way too much film before switching to digital. Some of us even have extra finger nails from dipping our hands in too much developer over the years.

Oh, and enjoy your retirement!
