I have been using Snapbridge to copy photos from my Z6 to a Samsung S2 tablet for some time without problem. The app seems to have been updated recently and now crashes the Android when I try to run it. It starts OK and connects to the camera WiFi but subsequently causes an Android restart. The problem repeats it I try to start it again. I've tried reinstalling the App to no avail.

 

The tablet is running Android 8 and Snapbridge 2.9.0.

 

Is anyone else having this problem?

On the Google Play site, they do mention Android 8 in one place. However, they also say...

 

System Requirements
Android 9.0 or later, 10.0 or later, 11, 12
A device with Bluetooth 4.0 or later (i.e., a device that supports Bluetooth Low Energy) is required.
There is no guarantee that this app will run on all Android devices.

 

So, I really don't know if it will work with your device or not. Perhaps you can roll back to an earlier version if necessary.

Thanks for the tip, Ron. I checked and you are right - it seems Android 9 is now required for the current version of Snapbridge.

 

This is a general problem with Android devices. The tablet or phone works fine but becomes unusable because the makers of the apps update their software such that it stops working on older Android versions. So we are forced to buy newer devices although there is nothing wrong with the older ones. Bad for the pocket and the environment.

I feel your pain, Colin. I've ran into the exact same problems with my Android devices.

 

However, no OS is immune from this sort of thing. Eventually, older operating systems are dropped in favor of later, more secure, versions. I realize that isn't much consolation in your case though. Hopefully, you can roll Snapbridge back to an earlier version that supports your Android OS.
