How much were we affected by the use of elements in design that were unthinkable outside the photographic field?

 

Think of the National Geographic front page border, the Kodak boxes and the Nikon logo, all in a similar yellow warning colour.

 

Nat. Geo was *the* quality magazine and Kodak and Nikon hung on to their coat tails in the 70-s and 80-s.

There was little doubt National Geographic not only hired the best photographers, but employed the best printing available at the time to bring those photos to their members.  I always thought it would be great to get a look at all the photos they took for an article.  The magazine is expensive, but due to the quality, it's worth it.

Marketing colours - really important to some companies.

Supermarkets, banks and chocolate manufacturers seem to have a handle on this.

 

Consider, if you see someone with a black camera, it could be almost any make.

If its lens is off-white, its going to be a Canon. Quite cleaver, really.

 

We need blue cameras & lenses, just to keep people guessing.
