I bought a Nikon D70 from an auction. Everything works fine from what I can tell, but the memory card isn't reading. Shows -E- on the top screen. It's an 8GB. I have no ability to format it in the menu either, it's blanked out. I tried resetting as well and no such luck. Also tried removing the memory card multiple times. Not sure if this matters but I don't have a lens on it yet.

Is the little lock tab engaged on the card?  If not, have you tried with a different card?

As far as I can tell, if you're talking about the L next to the right side of the screen. I don't have another card, I just bought this one. Should I try a different one?

Check that the pins in the card compartment are straight and that none are missing.

Adam, the D70 uses CF cards. There is no lock tab, unlike the SD cards.
