There was a query on the "Dumbest Photo Thing You've Done Recently"

My contribution was this:

From the analog world: using two cameras in the conviction both have DX readers.

Wrong. Only one does. And the film in that one doesn't have a DX code  :(

Well I finished the films by end of November.

The one in the camera without the DX reader was Lomography Kine Berlin 400, a b&w film.

Unfortunately the film I shot before in that camera was Velvia 50.

I informed the lab about my mistake and they tried to rescue the photographs as best they could but ISO 400 is a long way off from ISO 50.

The result was... "interesting". Very low contrast.

I resisted my first reflex to add any contrast in post on the scanned tiffs. Somehow I felt the views on Ghent and the low contrast weren't all that bad. Rather a happy combination.

You can see for yourself   :)

Last image is mostly contemporary architecture so the low contrast doesn't fit all that well.

The massive dark building is the new city library, by the way. There used to be a winter circus building there, closed up for many decades and dilapidated as it was, still looking far better

Restoration was most likely out of budget.

The rest of the film is country side and some views on Ooidonk castle and some of the outbuildings. I've yet to decide what I'll do with those.

The second film was a 100 ISO colour film and when there's no DX code on the film, 100 ISO is supposed to be picked by default by the DX reader. At least those results should be according to the nature of the film

When I have made mistakes like rating for 50 with 400 ASA, I have split the difference and developed for 160 or 200 rated to get some contrast still, even though the negs get denser than ideal. As I use Microphen, there still is some contrast left even at 50 or so.

I realized I made a second mistake by leaving the lighting unchanged along with the contrast.

but of course, once started, I had to continue and add some contrast as well  :)

Think you've recovered this nicely Bart.
