I have been using my 200-500 lens since 2016.  Lately I have noticed that regardless how much I tighten the ring knob the camera still tends to drift off center as I shoot using a monopod.

Does anyone else have this same issue and if so how have you fixed the problem.

It seems to me that there should be some type of gasket immediately beneath the ring in order to make the ring tighten a bit more around the lens.

What ring and knob are you speaking of?  Are these on the lens or monopod?

I read it as the lens collar not getting tight enough anymore.

This should be curable by removing the collar and putting some 3M clear tape on the inside of the collar before reattaching it to the lens.
