We abstain from Christmas lights on the house.

I did once have an LED rope-light stretched out along the edge of the drive,

but that was for runway guidance when my wife was landing her car during dark evenings.

Around here, some stores start putting out Christmas decor items after labor day. Seriously. And, there are people who never take their decorations down from one year to the next. But for most families, shortly after Thanksgiving, the decorations go up.

Long, long ago, in the 1970s, one of my chums put 12volt Christmas lights around the back of his 50cc Moped.

Various policemen stopped him several times to see how they were powered & have a laugh.
