I just installed NX studio on the new M1pro MacBook Pro, and I've been having issues with the software.

Loading the program takes longer than you'd want but more concretely, ANY manipulation of NEF files causes the program to crash immediately. To be specific, ANY form of manipulation including colour correction or cropping. I've tried this after installing and reinstalling.

Earlier I tried to edit a photo and got an error saying the function was still under the TODO list and wasn't to be used (or something along those lines) but sadly I didn't think to make a record of it and haven't been able to recreate it.

Just recording this to make sure this is known about somewhere. Has anyone seen something like this before?

for the record, after a crash and reload of the application the terminal output is as follows:

I have heard of other software and hardware that have issues with the Apple M CPUs but work fine on the Macs with Intel CPUs.  I would suggest contacting Apple and Nikon...Hopefully one of them will be able to assist you.

It is probably some routine that doesn’t play nice with Rosetta 2. NX studio isn’t the world’s most stable piece of software on the Intel Macs either. Have you tried Capture NX-D? It might work better. I don’t have a M1 mac, so I am mostly guessing…

-2020 M1 MacBook Air, Monterey OS

-NEF files by Nikon Z 6ii and Z fc cameras

Based on my successful use of Nikon software using M1 MacBook Air and Big Sur OS I believe this is a compatibility issue between Monterey OS and Nikon software.

Prior to upgrading my OS from Big Sur the following Nikon programs worked well:

1. NX Studio will open and edits to NEF files can be made but as soon as I try to export the file as a jpeg it says it cannot export an unsupported file.

2. Picture Control Utility 2 instantly crashes upon loading.

On December 16, 2021 Nikon released updated software noting prior compatibility issues between its software and Monterey OS.
