I bought one of the above recently for very little money - £40. It gives good results on my D3300, which means its manual focus only.

I found the only awkward aspect in use was the front focus ring, which is very narrow and slightly smaller in circumference than the zoom ring.

As an experiment, I decided to try an ‘o’ ring slipped over the focus ring. I selected a 58mm (inside diameter), 4mm wide nitrile ring.

This cost an acceptable £1.70 or $2.30 US – delivered.

The result was successful, the focus ring being much easier to use and find when looking through the viewfinder.

That's actually a better focus ring than some of the other G lenses, which isn't saying much, and your idea improves it considerably.
