I'm a dog lover although I've not owned one in a long time. I don't understand the irrational (IMO) need some owners have to make their pets look foolish (again, IMO). SMH

The event was a benefit for a local historical society, best costume was one of the events along with, best retriever, best trick, best begger, best kisser, musical hoops, best belly rub kicker, and most vocal.  $1.00 entry fee per event, plus vendor fees keeps the society afloat.  The winner of each event got a blue ribbon, plus a pick from a prize basket, (doggy toy, bag of treats, etc.).  They have an agility course and a state sanctioned course to earn a ''Good Canine Citizen Award'', (that's free).  It's a, ''for fun'' event that people and dogs enjoy, (my buddy loves walking around sniffing and meeting the other dogs).

Yes, I doubt any of these people would dress their dogs in costume, (other than Halloween maybe) and take them out in public.

The doggy ''jammies'' the one vendor was selling are kind of disturbing though...
