My camera (Nikon d600) started having an err message just looking to see if there is anything else I can do before having to send it in.   I tried cleaning the camera contacts with microfiber cloth , changing lenses and taking out the battery. I can't change any settings or have live view come up. I double checked that both are on auto focus but auto focus doesn't work either..  I can click the shutter button down but no pic. Shutter is at 16000. Any ideas of what could cause it?  Please bare with me as I'm not really technical when it comes to cameras.

'Err' message on Nikon, points toward internal camera issues. The error could be because of faulty lens, dirt, incompatible SD card, inappropriate camera exposure settings. You can check if the lens connection pins or Aperture control lever are broken.

I see the OP hasn't been back since 24th September.

 

Perhaps he's bought another camera!
