Someone should teach them how to wear a helmet properly though. I see that a lot with kids.

The skates we had as kids had steel wheels and clamped onto your shoes with a key.  They didn't stay on very long which is probably why we didn't skin our knees up too badly with them.  No, we saved the knee skinning for bicycles!

My sister & I had the type shown.

However, I can't ever remember any injuries resulting.

Just lucky, I suppose!

Generations of youngsters who grew up before the world was taken over by nannies didn't wear helmets and survived quite nicely, thank you. :P

You are so right.

Except for those that didn't of course.

 

Besides, these kids are wearing a helmet. So they might just as well were it correctly.

When I was coaching hockey, I insisted my boys wore helmet and
grid. "Look around, nobody does!" my ex-wife said. The following
weekend, the younger son got 5 stitches on the chin… only then
the purchase was approved for all our kids.

Thinking about it, sledding was probably our most dangerous pass time.  We had some courses laid out where you had to dodge trees, rocks, and at times, other sleds.  Usually there was at least one of us laid up due to a, ''Wile-E.-Coyote'' splat against a tree or a rock.  We all survived...
