Could I have some opinions about lens cleaning solution?
There seem to be a vast selection on the market – are there any to avoid?
Is there a good case for using lens cleaning wipes containing a cleaning agent?

Unless the lens is really dirty, your breath and a microfiber cloth.

I usually use a rocket blower and sometimes a good martern hair brush to make sure I don’t have any large debris that can scratch the surface. I then breathe on the lens and use a Spudz or Hama mikrofiber cloth. I do have a 2oz bottle of B+W Lens Cleaner II solution, but I think I have had to use it once or twice since I bought it some years ago.
Thanks Ron / Peter / Dave for your advice.
I very recently got a lens which needs the front element cleaning, so will order some cleaning solution.
I have a lens pen, which does work well.
The impregnated lens cleaning wipes are really intended for specs, not camera lenses, and can leave marks behind as the solution dries. I use them sometimes when a lens is really dirty, knowing that I'll be following up with microfiber cloth etc.
Thanks for your comments Marcus.
Certainly the cheap & nasty wipes seem pretty useless. Those with some form of alcohol inside do a better job though.
Eventually, I bought a kit for £13
Be aware that the main ingredient for most for lens cleaners is rubbing alcohol. I would recommend blowing/ cleaning with rubbing alcohol (higher the content the content the better) you can buy 99% if you search for it. If your lens is coated rinsing with distilled water will make it "Factory" clear with NO streaks.
