I did take one for this challenge yesterday but didn’t have time to download it from my camera. I’ll post it later, with today’s effort.

I'm enjoying this challenge - although trying to do something a bit different every day with such a quirky lens is quite a challenge in itself. I’m sure I’ll run out of options and start repeating myself soon!

Today's series is about contemplation...

I knew the light was going to terrible, so I switched to the D750 body for this one.

Nikon D750, Nikkor 20-35 f2.8 D at 35mm.

Welcome to the mess, madness, and mayhem of my bullet casting bench!

1/30 f5.7 M9000

A general view of a bullet casting bench, 2 electric furnaces, a lubra-sizer, molds, dies, lubricating wax, welding gloves, old hammer handles to open molds, and various tooling.  Bullet alloy is typically 700+ degrees  F requiring protective clothing, welding gloves, and safety glasses.  A  small drop of lead alloy can burn the skin on a finger to the bone.

Star Lubrisizer straight through, sizes and lubes in one operation.

Main furnace, dipper, and mold for 125gr. 9mm truncated cone bullets.  Can be used in 9mm or ,38 Super handguns.  Bullets are left to cure several weeks before lubed and sized, then ready for loading in cartridges.

Mold for the largest projectile I cast  .732" for rifled 12gauge barrel.  This 12 bore almost 800grain projectile  proves effective in dense cover for large thin skinned or dangerous game at close range.  Excellent for wild hogs!

Yikes! We've got some big wild hogs here in Texas but I've never heard of anybody using that large of a caliber to take one down.

I was looking for the anachronistic contrast between the 50-s railcar and the ultramodern house. Did I get it?

Yes, a shame that is.  They took the guns from good people and the criminals keep getting theirs.  I've read some Brits go to the continent to shoot, don't know what that would entail, and they're probably the more dedicated target shooters.

I've been in contact with Geoff Miller of the Royal Army Museum at Nottingham, (Hospital Road?) about a few British pieces in my collection, and am currently awaiting a reply from, David Minshall of Research Press on the Pattern 1858 Royal Marine Artillery Short Rifle I recently purchased.  It seems a fairly strong group of shooters exist shooting the muzzle-loading military rifles of the 19th century at least.

I've been at this casting business since 1973 when I began shooting N-SSA competition, (American Civil War arms).  Casting soon crossed over to centerfire rifle and pistol.  Most of the bullets in the cigar box will probably get sized to .357'' for a .38 Super Colt I built for myself a few years ago.

I planned on something else, then this summer  storm came along so I captured rain from my back porch.
