How about this challenge:

Shoot daily with a single lens the whole month.

It can be any lens you like or want to get to know better.

In my case it will be a fastish moderately wide prime, the Z 35/1.8, on my Z 6II.

For you, it can be anything you own... Maybe a kit zoom, or a fast zoom, or a tele zoom, or a fisheye, or a superzoom, or a macro lens, or a prime of some other kind. Shooting with something super quirky might be fun, but maybe more suitable for a shorter challenge.

 I think I would go with my Nikkor 20-35mm f2.8 D.

Funny, with film I didn't like wide angle lenses, now in digital I seem to enjoy using one a great deal.

I got onboard a little late here not seeing this photo challenge until Peter pointed it out.  Late afternoon on a rainy day, I grabbed the D-700 that had the Nikkor 20-35 f2.8 D on it and went to the back yard with two of my canine pals, (of course I had to play ball a little while with them) to photograph some of the food bearing plants I have.  Last time it was Black Raspberries, since then I've gotten a nice crop from those bushes and stuffed the freezer with several gallons for jam.  Now it's getting to be Blackberry season, looks like another good crop. They'll be ready for picking in a week or so.

As I was late starting this mini challenge, feel free to join in and then extend it a bit into August.

I have been restoring an old spice shelf for my mother. These got their final coat of oil today.

Some people say that a 35 on film or FX shouldn't be used for portraits... For me, it is ideal when I want some environment to give the portrait context.

This friend felt a bit caught out by the camera... He cleaned lots of strawberries yesterday and his fingers aren't clean yet!

Well, I’m going to go the quirky route - Funleader 18mm f8 Cap Lens. Fixed focus, fixed aperture, soft, heavy vignetting, etc. It’ll be on the Sigma FP, of course.

Im a bit late but here’s one from yesterday to begin with. Wheal Prosper engine house.

Today I have some old industrial buildings.
First an old bicycle factory:

SO: 100
Aperture: 5
Shutter: 1/2000

Second is the old dairy.
gallery_1251_808_510352.jpg
ISO: 100
Aperture: 7.1
Shutter: 1/250
Exp. Comp.: -0.7

And then what started out as a Ford dealership, but the Fords were soon replaced by Mercedes.
gallery_1251_808_472688.jpg
ISO: 100
Aperture: 7.1
Shutter: 1/250

gallery_1251_808_2498.jpg
ISO: 100
Aperture: 7.1
Shutter: 1/160

All the buildings have been restored and repurposed as the city grew and these once industrial outskirts are now more or less in the city centre.

Nikon D-700  Nikkor 20-35 f2.8 35mm  1/60  f22 M800

Young Chestnut tree's first blossoms.  There'll be nuts in October!  This tree is only about 6', (2M) high and is of the Chinese variety.  I have a young American Chestnut close by, a bit older and nearly 8'(2.5M) high, but the American variety grows much taller and doesn't mature as quickly.  I'm hoping to live long enough to see the American produce nuts.

k6AQNUil.jpg

While I was at it, I tried some creative effects on the hill by spot metering the bright somewhat cloudy sky, setting the camera to a full -2 exposure hoping for a more of a moon effect in daylight, (35mm f16).  Eh, not bad, but I don't think anyone would believe these were actual night shots with the moon behind the clouds.  All RAW images straight from the camera.

Mayabe this one...

Nikon D-700  Nikkor 20-35 f2.8 D  1/60 f6.7 35mm  Copy of an old photo

Today I rolled two projects into one.  I needed to copy a photo I took many years ago on my Canon F1n for a historian who wrote a volume of books on The Casualties of Gettysburg. .  Two books have been written on the Confederate dead from the Gettysburg campaign, and both as well as the seven volume set have missed this fellow.  Of course I have to prove he did exist and was mortally wounded, taken by train to Harrisburg along with other wounded Confederate prisoners, of which eleven died there and are still buried in Harrisburg Cemetery across the road from thirty four Union men who also died while in the make-shift hospital at Harrisburg.  I had photographed six of the Confederate graves in the 1990's, the other five being marked, Unknown.  Derry Hicks is the only one who doesn't show up as a casualty, yet here he is.

This was a struggle without a bellows on a wide angle lens.  Finally I simply took the photos and cropped in post as the lens wouldn't focus that close.
