Need to know your experience with battery life on the z5.

I have turned off every thing I know of to extend the life of the battery.

I'm only using the view finder, the replay after shot is turned off.  The wireless, blue tooth and airplane mode  are off.

Yesterday I shot 124 pictures and the battery usage life is at 45%.  Is this typical?  Not much life if I'm shooting family or events.

This was at a Classic Car show that happened to be nearby and thought it would be a chance to use it with those setting off.  I was there for about 30 minuets and shot about  110 photos.  The other 12 were shot at a Botanical garden.

By the way, the EN-EL15 was just as poor.  During my initial use of the camera, at an event at my gym,  the C battery only lasted about 90 min.

I've searched every where on the internet to try and figure this out.  Also referred to Dave Busch's Z5 comprehensive guide book  (I swear by them)

I am very pleased with this camera and am disappointed with the battery problem.  (I've attached a photo from the Car show)

Appreciate any help.  I've attached screen shots of the back of the camera.  If any other menu setting is necessary please advise, dig deeper and sent them along.

Thank you.

okay i shoot with Z6 and use Gen 1 nikon 70-200mm. i used back button focus. even with wind blowing threw the netting at local college i  shot at i can get about 1000 shots with it. i am using el-en 15a and b ones. now if just using camera to wait to get shoot and follow action and not shoot. it will cause battery to drain more since needs to keep autofocusing threw netting when wind is blowing it. so you might have old battery that get old and can not hold it charges any more. also do not use third party battery's since some do not work well with new Z body's or if any other come out.

Thank you for the response with your experience with the z6!

Found a comparison list z5 v z6 and number of shots on full battery is 390.  I have recharged the battery again, read that because it's new, it may need a couple cycles of recharging for it perform as projected.

I use back button focus and my camera is set as Matrix Metering, Single Point AF and single AF.  No auto focus, 99% of the time I am doing family portraiture.

I also turn the camera off when not using it for an extended period of time.

I'm baffled.
