This old warbird, named "Tuskegee Airmen", was flown into a local airport for an exhibition last weekend. It was there courtesy of the Commemorative (formerly Confederate) Air Force (CAF). The Tuskegee Airmen flew this same model as their signature aircraft in WWII. The P-51Cs were built by North American Aviation in Dallas, TX. The particular aircraft served as a trainer in 1945, hence it is a two seater.

The images were captured with a Nikon Z 50 and NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR lens

1/1250 sec, f/6.3, ISO 180, FL 50 mm

Why not red nose? :P

Perfect weather by chance… bad reportage by choice. :(

The Red Tails, Tuskegee Airmen were black fighter pilots assigned mostly as ''escorts'' for the bombers.  As I recall, they didn't lose a single bomber to German fighters.  Bomber crews began requesting the, ''Red Tails'' as escorts on missions deep inside Germany.  Once their mission complete and the bombers safely over Allied territory the Red Tails were free, (if fuel and ammunition levels were plentiful) to raise hell with German targets on the ground as they found them.

Ignorance can be forgiven, it simply means something not taught.  No big deal, we're all ignorant in many things, we share what we know and learn from those who know.  We all can't know it all, life would be a bore if we did.
