Hi all,

Greetings, this is my first post in the Nikon Forums though I have been a Nikon user for a while.

Me and my wife both are enthusiast photographers especially for wildlife. She uses a Nikon D500 with a Sigma Sport 150-600mm and I used to have a Nikon D3 and Tamron 150-600mm G2. Not many issues with the gear but I recently upgraded to a Z6 to improve on the resolution and possibly to reduce a bit of camera body weight.

These are some of my thoughts from my recent user experience;

The Nikon Z6 has been updated to its latest firmware. The Sigma Sport worked straightaway on the Z6 with the FTZ adapter however the Tamron G2 did not. I then realised that I needed to upgrade the firmware of Tamron G2 lens. I did that using the Tamron Tap in Console and since then I am able to use the Tamron on the Z6.

1. The Sigma Sport focusses faster on the Z6 compared to the Tamron G2.

2. Both the lenses do not work well with the Image stabilisation on the Z6 when I compare it with the D500 or even my old D3/D300 on any settings. I just feel it's almost non-existent. For clarification, the in body stabilisation was switched off on the Z6 and I tested the lens stabilisation on both the lenses.  I mostly hand hold the gear and now kind of forced to carry a monopod.

Other than these two niggles, I like the camera.

Cheers,

Nav

give tip tamron did poor job getting all lenses to work well on Z6 you need to get tap in shoe or tap in item to do the updates to lenses. pretty much all gen 1 tamrons will have issue not work on Z6 some will be full manual with VC aka VR or not work at all. all gen 2 tamrons need update from tap in shoe or tap in item to work. so best bet is get item that updates lenses for tamron if that does not work. you can try tamron but will get poor remark back. since i tried to get help on gen 1 and 70-300mm marco would not really help me. only told have to wait for update if one comes to gem 1 150-600mm which took them 1 yr and 8 months to let know not going to fix so works on Z6
