I currently have a D3000 and wanted to try my hand at astrophotography. I am trying to find out if this model can accept a intervalometer, and if so which model would the community recommend. Thanks.

I prefer wired units, but Nikon ML-L3  I/R is supposed to work as a release for the D3000, (Opteka RC-2 also).  The only wired units I see on E-bay are unbranded Chinese units that may work for a while...or not.

The D3000 has a 2 second shutter delay that may work for you in conjunction with the shutter speed, Bulb -30sec and between.
