I have just upgraded to Nikon D7000. How do I make the best of the video?

Very very carefully. I don't shoot video to any serious degree, but used to, with a video camera.
The thing about video is that it needs good audio. So even a great picture can be ruined by crappy audio, some say audio is more important, and I tend to agree.
These DSLRs have slow, noisy AF, so you have to manually focus to be any good, so practice is required. Lots of practice if you want to be good.

Once I get my Samyang 85mm manual focus lens I plan to start learning how to do videos better.
