Hi,

Which post-processing software - besides Lightroom - are you happy with? So far I used RawTherapee and Capture NX-D but found both wanting. My camera is D5600. Thanks beforehand!

I use Capture NX-D and get results like the ones in the How about an insanely low light challenge thread without having to spend too much time in post.

I use Affinity Photo, ($50.00 U.S.D. for a life time license including up-dates).

I use Capture One since CO v.6 and followed all of their spectacular
progression
as dedicated RAW converter to v.13.1… and decided to
stop it here because I do not believe v.14 is worth the fuss at all.

CO is the base of my operation, the ultimate in quality and performan-
ce. I do use Affinity Photo since a few years — and my students too —
but only as splendid pixel editor as it is not a dedicated converter.

Adobe free for the last 7 years.

These days I mostly use Luminar 4. I really like it for the basic photo processing. Easy, simple, quite effective and with enough AI built in to save me some effort. I also use Adobe Elements 2019 and Capture NX-D so I can continue to learn more. I process my raw photos, but really need to learn to use layers.

I am also wanting to learn to do median stacking, but having trouble finding a software that does it without lots of hassle and jumping from one program to another. I started a separate thread on that last week, but no responses so far. I have a Coolpix P1000 and would like to sharpen up the photos I take at max zoom.

I work with Lightroom and Photoshop; both are awe-inspiring to use. And I'm not interested in editing my pictures to the point where they're unrecognizable from the lens capture.

I still use Lightroom 3.  I shoot about 100,000 images per year and run it all through Lightroom 3.  I've tried newer versions, the Creative Cloud.  Hated it.  Went back to LR3 and never looked back.  Works just fine for my needs.  As for Photoshop, I may use it once a year, if that.

Does that mean that you shoot jpeg only? Or do you batch-convert raw files to .dng?

I agree that the current version of LR is awful, but classic still has a usable UI and can handle modern raw files.

As a sports photographer, I generally shoot JPEG for all outdoor sports.  For indoor sports, if the light is crappy, I'll shoot RAW and convert to DNG for processing.  If the light is great, like in a pro arena, I'll shoot JPEG.

I use PS & LR CC 2022. Been using PS since late 90's. I load all photos into LR and do a batch auto exposure on all. This give me a quick OK starting point. I then evaluate and if I feel it's something to share I'll take the original NEF into PS. I've tried other software for PP and have found them pretty good, just don't want to take 6 months learning another program.

That's my 2 cents worth.
