I have no idea about the numbers but this sensor will have very fast readout and about double or triple better Dynamic Range than a D850 or z7

I think you misunderstood the reported data, Bobby.

The projected DR — dynamic range — is expressed in dB given for
different fps rates, which is an audio performance standard.

I see A lot of potential
Maybe a new medium format sensor or a full frame wit better DR & ISO performance
Also I’d like to see new Processors from Nikon which is very important

for example if you have a bird flying against the sky this sensor will expose higher ISO number than 100! Maybe better shadow recovery on PP
Or landscape this sensor will expose sky and shadows properly in one frame

Depends, Sometimes is set to auto iso.
It’s complicated with white subjects every D500 will clip the highlights, after 4 great years with this camera I noticed that it’s better to nail the exposure manually ! If I don’t like the exposure on my camera screen I start to worry
It’s a very dangerous small sensor that will not forgive, you can not recover on PP it’s all gone
I know I shouldn’t complain it’s still a great DX camera at this price range

The culprit is not your D500 but your shooting strategy, nothing
to do with sensor size.

All cameras have light meters set for 18% average, In bright light,
meters are tricked to underexposed so one must use an EV com-
pension — checking with your best friend the histogram!
